After meeting at Nahari Station, we will leave our luggage in the support car and ride ebikes along the back of the tracks where the forest railroad used to run.
After riding along the beautiful coast, we will head to the mountainous area along the Yasuda River, where we will stop at a small movie theater with a 60-year history to explain the concept of this trip.
We will then have lunch using local seasonal ingredients, including Japan’s best sweetfish, and enjoy the wisdom and ingenuity found in the remains of tunnels and bridges along the course, before continuing on to Umaji Onsen.
Highlights of day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we will tour the small Umaji Village by ebike and enjoy the Japanese satoyama.
We will experience the progressive efforts of this small village through seasonal experiences such as yuzu picking, yuzu makeup making, and a factory tour.
After lunch, we will ride the ebike again to a small village deep in the mountains, the Yanase area.
Upon arrival, we will stay at a clean cottage by the lake surrounded by nature and enjoy a BBQ while listening to the local people.
Highlights of day 3
We will guide you along the beautiful lakeside and through the small but energetic village of Yanase while riding on ebikes.
We will then ebike down along the Nahari River, visiting some of the most beautiful natural features of the course.
Along the way, we will enjoy meeting the locals as we make our way to Kitagawa Onsen, the most popular hot spring hotel in the area.
Highlights of day 4
After touring the nature around the hot spring hotel and the remains of the post-forest railroad track, participants will try their hand at making “country sushi,” a traditional dish loved in this region. We will learn how to make it and eat it together with local people.
After that, we will ride down along the beautiful Nahari River again on an ebike, and then disband at Nahari Station.
