The spirit of Kochi’s summer begins with the Yosakoi dance. Dancers hold naruko, small wooden clappers that create a sharp, rhythmic sound. Once you move to the beat, the excitement rises naturally. Yosakoi is a dance for everyone—children and adults, beginners and experienced dancers alike.

The Experience
In this tour, you will first learn the basic steps and rhythm of Yosakoi. Then, dressed in vibrant costumes, you will dance in the historic grounds of Kochi Castle. Performing against the backdrop of the castle is a truly special experience, offering not only unforgettable memories but also wonderful photo opportunities.

Summer Festival – The Beating Heart of Kochi
Every August, Kochi transforms into a giant stage for the Yosakoi Festival, one of Japan’s top ten festivals. Dancers in colorful costumes parade through the streets, filling the city with music, energy, and joy. Spectators don’t just watch—they clap, cheer, and become part of the celebration. Experiencing the dance yourself makes the lively atmosphere of the summer festival even more meaningful.

Kochi Drinking Traditions

Kochi is famous across Japan for its crisp, dry sake with a clean, refreshing finish. It’s incredibly easy to drink, and the region is known for having many enthusiastic sake lovers of all ages—so much so that Kochi is often called “the Kingdom of Sake.”

Here, hosting large gatherings with plenty of local sake and sawachi ryori (beautiful platters of regional dishes) is a cherished tradition. These lively banquets are known as Okyaku, a uniquely Kochi-style way of celebrating with friends, family, and even strangers.

Sake Tasting with Local Pairings
As part of this experience, you’ll enjoy a guided sake tasting where Kochi’s dry, refreshing brews are paired with dishes that highlight their flavor—bringing out the crispness and balance that make Kochi sake so distinctive.

Drinking Games – Hashiken & Bekuhai
No Kochi-style banquet is complete without playful drinking games. Hashiken challenges players to guess hidden chopsticks, while Bekuhai uses trick cups that make every sip a fun challenge. Together, they capture the lively, competitive spirit of Kochi’s drinking culture.

Customers may cancel their travel contract at any time by paying the applicable cancellation fee. However, the deposit paid at the time of booking may be applied toward the cancellation fee. Cancellation requests are accepted online. Please note that any fees associated with the refund will be borne by the customer.
