The setting is the famous paper making town of Ino. It is one of the leading washi paper production centers in Japan, and Tosa washi has a history of more than 1,400 years. The Niyodo River, renowned as one of the most beautiful and clear rivers in Japan, flows through the area, which is dotted with peaceful farming communities and scenic spots. This 3-day/2-night tour will allow you to explore the area by e-bike and enjoy traditional Japanese crafts, nature experiences, historical buildings, interaction with local people and the best support.

Highlights of day 1
Our first stop will be the Paper Museum, where we will learn about the history, traditional techniques and manufacturing process of washi paper. After that, we will ride an e-bike for about an hour along a mountain road to “Naruyama,” the root of the town’s paper industry. If the weather is clear, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the town from the top of the mountain. After a lunch of “Onigiri Sawachi” and a coffee break, we will learn about the legend of Tosa’s seven-colored paper, which dates back about 400 years. Afterwards, check in at the hotel where you will stay for the first night. A soak in a hot spring bath will relieve the fatigue of the trip.

Highlights of day 2

After breakfast, we will ride e-bikes along scenic riverside roads. We will ride through rolling farmlands and enjoy the local scenery, including beautiful rivers, rice paddies and unique architecture. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a popular local café. In the afternoon, the highlight of the tour, you will experience traditional handmade washi paper making at a historic paper mill, and then try your hand at calligraphy using the washi you made.You can take your work home as a souvenir of your trip.
After the workshop, check in to your hotel for the second night. In the evening, we will have a BBQ by the riverside of the clear Niyodo River.
