One-Day Cycling Tour from Kochi Port

This one-day cycling tour begins at Kochi Port and heads to Mt. Godai, one of Kochi’s iconic landmarks. Riding an e-bike makes the gentle climb easy, and at the summit you will visit Chikurin-ji Temple, a historic pilgrimage site with moss-covered paths and scenic photo spots.

The route then continues across the Kochi plains to Akaoka, a town rich in history and culture. Here you will explore the Ekingura Museum, the traditional Benten-za theater, and a local sake brewery.

Finally, enjoy a beautiful ride along the Pacific coastline before returning to Kochi Port. Blending nature, history, and culture, this tour offers a relaxed yet memorable way to experience Kochi in just one day.

Akaoka – A Historic Merchant Town

Akaoka was once the center of Kochi, thriving as a hub of commerce with sake brewing and salt production. Today, the town preserves its unique heritage through cultural landmarks. The Ekingura Museum displays striking Edo-period paintings that go beyond idyllic scenery, depicting the darker, more realistic aspects of daily life—making it an ideal place to understand how people lived centuries ago.

Akaoka is also famous as the venue of the Dorome Festival, a lively sake-drinking contest that reflects Kochi’s reputation as Japan’s most spirited sake-loving prefecture. Adding to its charm, Takagi Sake Brewery, which provides sake for the festival, offers visitors a chance to experience Kochi’s craftsmanship and hospitality firsthand
