Highlights of day 1

Upon arriving in Kochi City, you will meet your through-guide and travel by private vehicle to Yusuhara.
After arriving in Yusuhara, the journey begins with a guided introduction to forestry and reforestation activities led by KIRecub, a forestry organization. You will also explore the stunning architectural works of Kengo Kuma.
For lunch, enjoy a local cuisine experience at Kusabuki, a beloved local restaurant. Your meal will be accompanied by insights from the local okāsan (mothers) who prepare these traditional dishes.
In the afternoon, participate in a tree-planting experience with KIRecub, contributing to the preservation of Yusuhara’s lush forests.
Next, visit Takejo, a brewery specializing in doburoku, an unrefined sake with a history older than traditional Japanese sake. Learn about its cultural significance and brewing process.
In the evening, check in to Satoyama Onsen “Goroku Onsen”, where you can relax in a rejuvenating hot spring. Enjoy a carefully crafted dinner featuring locally sourced ingredients from Kochi, offering an authentic taste of the region’s rich culinary traditions.

Highlights of day 2

After breakfast, you will enjoy an activity of your choice (1) Shikoku Karst guided tour and e-bike experience if you wish. Shikoku Karst guided tour and e-bike experience if desired (2) Kubotani Forest Therapy Road walk (3) Japanese sweets making experience. In the afternoon, experience handmade washi paper by Mr. Rogier at the washi studio Kamikoya. This is a rare opportunity to experience the blessings of nature and traditions of the region while learning about Tosa washi, which is used to restore fine paintings by Picasso and others in the West. Afterwards, we will return to the Goroku Onsen hot spring resort to enjoy a dinner featuring Kochi ingredients, which will be different from the first day’s dinner.

Highlights of day 3

After breakfast, you will enjoy a private viewing experience of Tsunoyama Koshiki Kagura at a shrine as the highlight of your trip.You will be able to appreciate kagura, which is designated as a Kochi Prefecture Intangible Folk Cultural Asset, not merely as a show, but as a traditional local event, and as a local person. You will be able to feel the Shinto philosophy and customs rooted in the satoyama of Japan and the desire of the local people to carry on the ancient traditions of the kagura.After the Kagura experience, a private car will take you to a designated place in Kochi City, where the tour will end.
